Read the script: Episode 1
This is every word I say in Episode 1: You’re not behind (about four minutes), written out so you can read at your own pace, pause, print it, or read it again later. The numbers show where each part begins in the video.

A note about the picture: the person you see in the video is my AI double, speaking in my own voice. The words below are mine.
The script
Starts at 0:02
Everyone under forty seems to have an opinion about what people our age can and cannot do with technology. Well. I spent twenty-five years as a plaintiff’s employment lawyer, reading documents written to confuse people. And I’m about to teach you the thing they think we can’t learn.
Starts at 0:21
I’m Gay Carroll-Haring. But first, a confession — because on this channel, we start with honesty. The person you’re looking at right now isn’t quite me. She’s my double, made with artificial intelligence — AI, for short. My face, my real voice, considerably better lighting. I built her with the same tools I’m going to teach you, and I will always tell you when AI is being used. That’s the deal around here. Welcome to AI Made Simple for Seniors.
Starts at 0:52
So why is a retired lawyer making videos about artificial intelligence? Because when I retired, I was exactly where you might be right now. Curious. A little suspicious. Tired of headlines that were either selling doom or selling magic.
Starts at 1:09
I’m also a cancer survivor. I mention that not for sympathy, but because it’s one of the reasons I use AI every single week. Medical appointments. Medication questions. Making sure I walk into my doctor’s office with my thoughts organized — and walk out actually understanding the plan. AI helps me advocate for myself. It can help you do the same.
Starts at 1:33
Here’s what nobody says out loud: AI feels overwhelming because most of it is explained by people who assume you already speak fluent computer. Too many tools. Too many warnings. Too many twenty-second demonstrations that go by like a freight train.
Starts at 1:50
And so perfectly intelligent, accomplished people — people who raised families and ran households, businesses, classrooms and courtrooms — quietly decide, “I guess I’m not a tech person.” That is not a fact about you. That’s a fact about how badly this has been taught.
Starts at 2:09
Let me show you what one of these looks like, so it stops being a mystery. This is an AI app on an ordinary phone. That’s it. A box where you type — or, see that little microphone? — where you can simply talk. Nothing happens until you ask it something. It doesn’t call anyone. It doesn’t spend your money. It just waits.
Starts at 2:30
We’re not going to use it today. I just want you to see how ordinary it is. In a few episodes, you’ll have your first real conversation with it — safely, with a script in your hand.
Starts at 2:41
So here is the premise of this channel: you are not behind. You are beginning — and beginning is a skill you’ve used your whole life. What you lack is exposure, not capacity.
Starts at 2:54
Here’s what we’ll do together, one short video at a time. You’ll learn what AI actually is — a pattern machine, not a mind. You’ll have your first safe conversation with it, and then learn to use it with just your voice. You’ll learn the one privacy rule that matters most. And we will spend serious time on scams, because the con artists got new tools too, including ones that can imitate a grandchild’s voice on the phone. I spent my career watching how deception works under pressure. I’ll show you how to beat it.
Starts at 3:28
One more promise: safety information on my website is free, forever. I will never charge you to protect yourself.
Starts at 3:36
Now — your one assignment. Not ten things. One. Go to Digital Confidence For Seniors dot com and download the free AI Made Simple Starter Kit. It’s a printable guide: your first prompts, a first-week checklist, and a scam stop card that belongs on your refrigerator. Print it. Circle one thing that interests you. Ignore the rest until you’re ready.
Starts at 4:00
Next time, we’ll put a scam text message on trial — and you’ll learn to spot one in about thirty seconds.
Starts at 4:06
If you’d like a guide who reads the fine print for you, subscribe — it costs nothing, and it genuinely helps. I’m Gay Carroll-Haring. You are not behind. You are beginning. And staying curious keeps us young.
